So You're Not Watching GOT? - 5 Other Great Shows To Watch

It seems the internet at the moment is purely focused on one of two things, on the film side, it’s Avengers: EndGame and on the television side, it’s HBO’s Game of Thrones. With continuous episodes since season 8’s premiere mid-April, for GOT, the conversational aspects of it seem all but guaranteed to have come up literally anywhere you happen to be, without notice. It’s spoiler central these days! Do you find yourself feeling out of the loop on THE CULTURAL SENSATION OF THE YEAR?? Well then, here are just a few shows you could (AND SHOULD) be watching in the meantime:

KILLING EVE

What’s It About: Part assassin conspiracy, part comedic stalker story. Weird combo, no? It’s a fascinating mixture nonetheless. The series, developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, stars Sandra Oh in her first series following Grey’s Anatomy alongside Jodie Comer of The White Princess fame. The duo elevate the tension from episode to episode.

Where To Watch: Season 1 - Hulu / Season 2 - BBC America, AMC

Season Currently Airing: 2 / / Renewed for Season 3

A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES

What’s It About: Witches, vampires and demons “coexist,” with each group vying for a sort of “Book of Life,” a magical end-all book that seems to only be available to a particular witch who is resisting her own witchiness. In the middle of the animosity is an inter-creature (forbidden) romance between said witch, Dianna (Teresa Palmer) and Matthew (Matthew Goode), a vampire, all in a contemporary setting. A distinguishing factor for this show is the gorgeous scenery. It’ll have you wanting to plan a Europe trip asap. Heart eyes emoji.

Where To Watch: Season 1 - BBC America, AMC

Season Currently Airing: 1 / / Renewed for Season 2

FOSSE/VERDON

What’s It About: Developed by Tony Award winners, Steven Levenson (Dear Evan Hansen) and Thomas Kall (In The Heights, Hamilton), Fosse/Verdon tells the (complicated) relationship story of Broadway director, Bob Fosse (Sam Rockwell) and actress-dancer, Gwen Verdon (Michelle Williams). It seems Emmy-discussion-friendly (when the time comes), category-wise, there may be some surprises here.

Where To Watch: FX

Season Currently Airing: 1

THE GOOD FIGHT

What’s It About: Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) returns to lead The Good Wife-spinoff. So much more than a commentary on current events, many political: The Good Fight is GOOD.

Where To Watch: CBS All Access

Season Currently Airing: 3 / / Renewed for Season 4

SUCCESSION

What’s It About: Uber rich family + drama of a very different level. No, totally serious about this one. One of the best shows of 2018 returns for Season 2 this summer, so catch up Season 1 prior! The Green Arrow approves this message.

Where To Watch: HBO

Season Currently Airing: 2 - premieres June 2019
